Hyperbaric & Wound Care Onsite Training


MATRIX Health Services, LLC will provide a 43.5 hour hyperbaric medicine and wound care course at your facility. This course has been reviewed and approved by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology as a Basic Hyperbaric Medicine Course. This presenter-directed Nursing CE activity is approved by the Louisiana State Nurses Association (LSNA), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation, for 36.25 contact hours.

The goal of this course is to enrich the participant's knowledge of wound care, the healing process, and the role of hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Upon completion of the course, the participant will have a better understanding of interventions that improve patient outcomes for those affected by life threatening, limb threatening and/or chronic wounds. Additionally the participant's knowledge base will be expanded to include rationales and applications of hyperbaric oxygen therapy for such conditions as decompression sickness, arterial gas embolism, carbon monoxide poisoning, and long term effect of radiation therapy.

Course content includes:

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy - The history, physiological basis and rationales for use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in the treatment of various disease states will be reviewed in depth, as well as, decompression theory and the use of dive tables, transcutaneous oxygen monitoring, hyperbaric chamber systems, safety in the hyperbaric environment and monoplace chamber safety. Hands on demonstration and participant practice on transcutaneous monitoring and HBO chambers is included.

Wound Care - The physiology of wound healing, wound assessment and management of vascular ulcers (venous, arterial and mixed disease), diabetic/neuropathic wounds, pressure ulcers, recalcitrant wounds will be discussed. The types and use of specialty dressings, wound photography, compression therapy, and debridement will also be taught during this offering. Hands on demonstration and participant practice of compression therapy and debridement techniques are included.
